Edgar Silver Frith

Nigel Frith painting of a c.15th Century stone panel on Merton College Gatehouse, Oxford. The panel was restored by Nigel’s grandfather, Edgar Frith.

Frith’s grandfather, Edgar Silver Frith (1890-1974), was a sculptor and teacher at the South London Technical Art School. As an assistant to his father, William Silver Frith, and later in his own right, Edgar produced architectural sculpture for sites around the UK, particularly in London and Oxford. Below is a poem and notes on E.S. Frith produced by Frith for a talk he was giving on his grandfather.
